Common Questions about Counseling/Psychotherapy

Q. Is therapy right for me?

A. There are many reasons why people seek therapy. Therapy can help address many types of issues including depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, stress, self-esteem, and general life transitions. Therapy is right for anyone interested in living their best life possible.

Q. Is medication a substitute for therapy?

A. Research informs us that long-term solutions to mental and emotional problems and the pain they cause cannot be solved solely by medication. You can achieve sustainable results and a greater sense of well-being with an integrative approach to wellness.

Q. Is therapy confidential?

A. Yes, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between client and therapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are three exceptions required by law. Exceptions include:

1. Suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse.

2. If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person.

3. If a client intends to harm himself or herself.

Q. What does therapy cost?

A. Our services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance. Most privately insured clients have a co-payment or minimal out of pocket expense. It is best to contact your insurance company to learn more about your benefits.
