Dr. Ariel Mitchell, LPC/S, LMFT, RPT/S

Dr. Ariel Mitchell earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education/Research, a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Bachelors degree in Psychology.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and Certified School Counselor.

Currently, Dr. Mitchell is also an Assistant Professor of Counseling at Xavier University of Louisiana. Dr. Mitchell’s work through Cognitive Solutions, LLC is specialized in the areas of family systems, child play therapy, and military family life. Her past professional experience includes serving 8+ years in school settings as a professional school counselor and then as a program director focused on programming to influence student development holistically. She also has a wealth of experience in clinical settings on the private, local, and state level.

Dr. Mitchell’s research interests include play therapy and social phenomenon impacts on child and family development. She has presented at state, national, and international conferences addressing counseling related issues such as leadership, ethics, advocacy, career development, and the development of school counseling. She has served leadership roles within Chi Sigma Iota, Louisiana School Counseling Association, and the Louisiana Counseling Association. As a clinical therapist, educator, and scholar, Dr. Mitchell intends on continuing her work of educating future clinicians and advocating for the counseling profession.
